Dry Ice · Shipping with Dry Ice
The amount of dry ice needed depends on your transit time, container size, and desired temperature profile.
General Guidelines for Deep Frozen (-108°F) Shipping
Use approximately 5 to 10 pounds of dry ice for each 24 hours of transit time.
- Overnight (24 hrs): 5–10 lbs dry ice
- 2-Day: 10–20 lbs dry ice
- 3-Day: 15–30 lbs dry ice
Larger insulated containers or lower-quality insulation will require more dry ice to cover the greater surface area.
Extended Transit (Cold Packs + Dry Ice)
For a LOW-MILD FROZEN profile with extended transit (10–24 additional hours):
- Surround product with frozen cold packs on 2–4 sides, top, and bottom
- Place 1.5 to 5 lbs of dry ice on top of cold packs as a buffer
Important: Always fill void spaces with dunnage packaging material to improve temperature stability and reduce sublimation.
