Dry Ice · Storage & Handling

Important: Contact your dry ice and/or co2 provider for safe handling instructions and safety training to ensure regulatory compliance. Dry ice can be handled safely when proper precautions are followed. Here’s what you need to know:

✅ Safety Properties

  • Non-corrosive
  • Non-toxic
  • Non-conductive

⚠️ Required Precautions

  • Always wear insulated gloves — dry ice is -109.3°F (-78.5°C) and can cause cold burns with prolonged skin contact.
  • Use protective eyewear when making or handling dry ice.
  • Work in well-ventilated areas — CO₂ gas is heavier than air and can displace oxygen in enclosed spaces.
  • Never ingest dry ice — it is not edible and can cause serious internal injury.
  • Keep away from children and pets — do not allow unsupervised access.
  • Never seal in airtight containers — sublimation pressure can cause containers to rupture or explode.

Intentional misuse of dry ice may be harmful or fatal. Always use extreme caution when handling dry ice. Download our Dry Ice Safety Warnings (PDF) for a printable safety sheet. For complete safety information, visit our Dry Ice Resource Page.
